God Bless America - Memorial Day

Visited a gold star mother this week, her son died in combat. Her eyes filled with tears though it happened years ago.✝️ The national cemeteries have flags flying, as we remember those who died protecting our awesome freedoms.🇱🇷 Every day we remember the One who died for all.✝️ Father, help us not to take our freedoms for granted, encourage us to exercise our freedom to worship. We ask it in Jesus’ name. God bless America. Amen.

Remembering- Memorial Day

Today, we honor the sacrifice and memory of the 1.1 million men and women who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Sgt. Major Bush will lead us in honoring them (we will wear our uniforms; we can still get in them😇). Our little church has many veterans. 🇺🇸God bless America and keep us free. I ask that we repent and turn back to You, in Jesus’ name, amen.

We Lift Up Our Graduates

Had the joy of being with one of our families and their graduates last night. Oh, I could feel the joy and pride. ❤️ “Oh, the places they will go.” They have brains in their heads and shoes on their feet, and Jesus in their heart.🙏Father, we lift up all the graduates, guide them, in life’s choices that they will fulfill Your plan for their lives, amen.

Be Alert for Opportunities

By request I visited a lady under care. We had a good time. Her care giver used to attend our church, and I was able to reconnect with him. God is always giving unexpected opportunities and “pop up” blessings✝️. Watch out today for even in the most routine things God will be at work. I’m a little slow, but over and over I see Him at work.✝️ Father, today let us be alert for the opportunities You place in our paths, amen.🎉

We Are So Blessed

My wife is back to rehab today; she’s enjoying it. We live in a small community, but God has blessed us with great medical facilities. My sister and brother-in-law have to drive 35 miles to the nearest facility. Dr. Ricky told me that on their mission trips that people will walk two days to see them. It may be the only opportunity they will ever have to see a doctor🙏. Father, we are so blessed; don’t let me take it for granted; I lift up all our medical folks today, thank You for them, amen.

Need Reassurance?

Need some reassurance? How about God speaking in Isaiah 43: “when you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. For I am the Lord your God.” Oh, today Father, we rely on Your presence and deliverance in our lives. We cannot make it without You, in Jesus’ Name, amen.

Another Minute of Life Gone

Thank You, Father, for another day of life. Help us use it wisely for You.✝️ Sometimes when I “zap” something in the microwave for a minute, the thought will cross my mind - there’s another minute of your life gone! Eventually, we will spend up or waste all of our minutes, but praise be to God - we have an eternity waiting for us. “For God so loved the world”, you know the rest.🙏Amen.

Answered Prayers

Don’t kneel often because of arthritis in my knees, but yesterday as soon I got home from worship, I went and fell on my knees by my bed. The answered prayers were so thick I had to brush them away from face. A precious lady whom we had been praying for - her health had been so bad - her husband escorted her to the altar. We had several families back, and I did my children’s time again. We honored graduates, and the building was almost full! My son says, “dad, prayer works!” Oh, yes, it does. Thank you Father, we give You praise, honor and glory!! Amen.

Honoring Our Grads

We honor graduates this morning.🎉 We have 15 ranging from kindergarten to college.😇 It will be a joy to watch these young people over the next years as they live out God’s purpose and plan for their lives✝️. If you know a particular young person please include them in your prayers, they face challenges I never thought of having.🙏 Father, we lift up all our grads to You, we ask that they be led by Your Holy Spirit and that You would protect them, in Jesus' Name, amen.

Thanks for Precious Memories

Back in “the day”, our two youngest -probably four and five - ate bar-b-que goat for Christmas. They climbed into chairs at the kitchen counter and were gobbling down the goat as fast as I could cut it off...giggling all the while. Amey would put her hand on the Bible and swear she never ate any goat!😅 “Precious memories, how they linger; how they ever flood my soul😇”. Precious memories, sometimes they bring smiles, sometimes tears, but Father, thank You for them, amen.

Only Jesus

The church sign says it all. Simon Peter in John 6:58: “To whom shall we go Lord? You have the words of eternal life”. On this Friday, Israel under assault, our country in turmoil, so many in sorrow - where can we go, to whom can we turn? Peter was absolutely correct...only Jesus, only Jesus. Thank You, Lord, for the very words of life, amen.

God’s Creation

When we were in Germany (U.S. Army), we visited several magnificent churches. We were awed by the beautiful stained glass windows. I thought how can anything be so beautiful,😇then this morning, headed east toward I 75, I saw the sunrise. Genesis 1:31: “Then God saw that everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the first day”. Father, thank You for the glory and beauty of Your creation, help us obey the command to care for it, amen.

Thank You for Knowing Us

A dear friend, faithful member of the church some years ago as he lay on his death bed, comforted his family with these words: “It’s alright because I know Jesus, and He knows me!” I’m attending a funeral for another faithful servant; his family is in sorrow, but they have the confidence that they will be reunited...because he knew Jesus and Jesus knows (present tense) him!! Father, thank You for knowing us, loving us. Thank You that we have a “home” not made by hands, eternal in the heavens, amen.

God Is Opening Doors

God is opening doors again. I’m able now to have worship at a personal care home and able to visit a member in the hospital. I can knock on doors again!🙏 Father, I ask that as You open doors and give us opportunities again that we would seize the opportunities. The time is short; we must be about Your work, in Jesus’ name, amen.
