Explore, Experience, Engage

Preachers are always looking for sermonic material. A billboard on I75 reads “Explore, experience, engage”. Wow! Today, let us explore the depths of His Word, experience the joy of His love, and engage His Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Also, I pray that we might preach.๐Ÿ˜‡ Father, it’s the day set aside for worship. Help us to truly do that, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Itโ€™s Who You Know

Message tomorrow: “It’s not what you know, but Who you know”, we’ve all said that. I’ve had a few instances when ‘knowing’ someone actually open some doors. We can know all about Jesus and in South Ga. most people know a lot about Jesus, His virgin birth, death on the cross for our sins, and His resurrection. So why then are not the churches filled to over flowing? The answer is because they don’t “know” Him. John 14:6: No one comes to the Father but by Me”! Oh Father, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would break through, and that all would “know” You (sorry didn’t mean to preach). Amen.

Father, Protect Our Law Enforcement

Had the awesome privilege of being a part of a service by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office last night to honor and remember eight law enforcement officers from our community who died in the line of duty. I personally knew five of them. Satan has launched a full scale assault against our law enforcement men and women. They are attacked in the media with little or no respect, in danger of losing their lives. Please let’s lift them up in prayer, and tell them that we support them. Father, please put Your arms around all of our law enforcement men and women; please protect them, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Whom Do We Trust?

At the gas station, a man from out of town had six gas cans in his truck, filling them. I remembered the run on bathroom tissue and cans of Lysol. I remembered back in the day, five of us with a total income $140 a week, that we never went hungry๐Ÿ™. Psalm 37:29, “I was young and now am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or His children hungry”. Whom do we trust with right now or our eternity? Father, You’re all we have, we trust You with all, amen.

The Most Important Thing

Argg! The service for our fallen law enforcement officers is tomorrow...not today. Could it be this white hair!๐Ÿ˜… Please attend.โœ๏ธ I did remember that it’s our daughter Amey Streetman Cagle’s birthday. She’s got me “wrapped” around her finger.๐Ÿ˜‡ Father, today we ask You to help us remember the most important thing - that You love us and made it possible for us to be in a relationship with You, amen.๐Ÿ™

For Those Protecting Us

Tomorrow night - there will be a service to honor fallen law officers from our community. I’ve known several of them personally. Each morning, as part of my morning prayer, I lift up all law enforcement officers and their families. There has, in my memory, never been as dangerous a time for law enforcement officers as there is now. Joshua 1:9 is for all those protecting us. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”. Amen.

A Will to Work

The manager at a local drive-thru was about to pull her “hair” out. She had tons of customers, but no help. She said, “No one wants to work!” In Genesis 3:19 God said...God said, “By the sweat of your brow, you will eat your food!” Father, today we ask You instill in us all a will to work, to earn our living, to serve in Your Kingdom. Father, please help us, amen.

Thank You to All Mamas

Thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday; I was overwhelmed.๐Ÿ˜‡ It’s Mother’s Day. I read that a famous college football coach called his team together, “Young men tomorrow is Mother’s Day, be sure and call your mom; I wish I could!”Me too, Coach, but there’s an awesome reunion day ahead. Thank you to all the “mamas” called by, and anointed by God, amen.

So Many Blessings!

Oh, the blessings keep coming!๐ŸŽ‰Another sweet lady in our church baked a chocolate pound cakeโค๏ธ(yum,yum...hard to talk with your mouth full). I also learned that our baby daughter is coming to see us soon!โค๏ธ What did God tell Malachi 3:10? So many blessings, you can scarcely receive than! Oh Father, help us be mindful of and thankful for the blessings, you pour out on usโœ๏ธ. Amen and amen.

Answered Prayers

Answered prayer - ๐Ÿ™for an entire year I had asked the Father to open the door so I could have worship services at the nursing and personal care homes again. ๐Ÿ™ I’m back in at Blackshear Villa.๐ŸŽ‰ This is our 4th week, and the ladies and staff are so gracious. They tolerate my singing and preaching.๐Ÿ˜‡ I’m praying for other doors to be opened.โœ๏ธ Sing with me: “What a mighty God we serve”. Amen.

Be a Pop Up Blessing

Sweet lady in our church blessed me with a dozen home baked chocolate chip cookies (not quite a dozen now๐Ÿ˜‡). It was a pop up blessing.๐Ÿ™ Today, help us, Father, look for ways we can give a “pop up” blessing to others; it gives them and us much joy.โค๏ธ Thank You for Your awesome blessings on us, amen. (I think that I’ll have another cookie๐ŸŽ‰!)

Sitting in the Dark

Sitting in the dark with the current off.๐Ÿ˜• Praying for our linemen. Our sheriff is reporting trees down. All the first responders have been out all night, working to help us. This is a good time to talk with (not to), but with the Father. He really does desire this one on one time. Father, we realize how helpless we are without You. Please fill, guide us with Your Holy Spirit, we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.

Deacons

Great deacon’s meeting last night, it’s a joy to serve with men who are seeking ways to serve the Lord and reach others for Him. The first deacons’ job was to be sure that all received their fair share of the food(Acts 6:3). Waiting on tables was their first task, it evolved into witnessing, preaching. Stephen was murdered for preaching; it led to the call of the mightiest missionaryโœ๏ธ. For all who serve, we lift you up to the Lord for strength, and protection. Thank you;we need you in our churches, amen.

God Did It!

We did it!!๐ŸŽ‰ No wait...God did it!๐Ÿ™He opened our Sunday school๐ŸŽ‰; we had children, young people, folks my age, young couples, and then at decision time our deacons marched down to the altar, got on their knees praying, asking for God’s will to be done, thanking Him for blessing our Sunday school.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ It was an awesome service!โœ๏ธ Father, thank You, thank You, for Your blessings! There are so many we can scarcely receive them, amen.

What Will They Say About Us?

Sunday School begins again today!๐ŸŽ‰ It’s been a long trek to get here. We have been accused of being too cautious, maybe so, but I’ve asked God for guidance every step of the way.๐Ÿ™ I have a funeral this afternoon for a good man, life gone in traffic accident. Three purposes in that service: to worship God, to honor his memory and to reassure the family. I’ve got some good things to say. What will they say at our service? Father, let our lives be pleasing to You and receive us to You at the end of our way, amen.
