Father, Protect Us

Just saw the news-a young man captured and accused of murdering 8 people. Oh my, evil is rampant. As they search for a reason, I can help them. His name is Satan! And he is taking fiendish glee in the pain, suffering, he has caused. Be on guard, he is seeking whom he may devour. Father, please fill us with the Holy Spirit, protect us from the evil one, that we would be on guard against the evil one, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Turn It Over to the Holy Spirit

Funeral service yesterday for a good friend and fellow Christ follower, if a funeral can be good, it was good. The Holy Spirit got loose and took over the service (its archived on our web site). If I would just get out of the way and turn it over to the Holy Spirit, oh my, what God can accomplish. Father, today we surrender all to Your Holy Spirit, fill us all, use us, we ask it in Jesus’ name, amen.

Church - All Welcomed

Plate loaded with the washing machine repairman coming this a.m. and a funeral today for a dear friend and fellow Christ follower. Our church is stepping up to the plate to minister to the family.❤️ I can’t imagine life without my church. They minister; they serve; they worship.🙏 The church belongs to Christ. He said, “I will build My Church, and nothing can prevail against it”. When He returns, it will be for His church.🎉 No walls, all are welcome in His Church. Amen.

I Don’t Owe Anyone Anything

Counting up assets, bills paid, a sigh of contentment: “I don’t owe anyone anything!” And then God spoke to me, “Remember all the good turns so many have done for you? The helps and the ministries to your family? Remember that I loved you so much, I gave you My only Son?” Oh my, I am a debtor, thanks to all who have been gracious to my family, and thank You, Jesus, for my salvation! Help me now to reach out to others. “If you have done unto the least of these, you have done it unto Me”. Amen.

Have a Plateful Today

Plateful today with a meeting with family to plan funeral, one of our deacon’s and I knocking on a few doors🎉, and getting things ready for worship tomorrow.🙏 The most important thing I will say at the funeral: “He knew Jesus, and Jesus knows him!🙏 That’s all any of us need. Father, thank You that You have our names written down in the book of life for all eternity; that’s all we will ever need. Amen and amen.

Pray Without Ceasing

Paul in 1st Thessalonians 5:16 said, “pray without ceasing”. What? Paul, I get it now. Throughout the day we are to be in continuous communication with the Father, I did a half dozen sentence prayers going to town this morning. I prayed about everything that’s got a name like the trucker who let me on i75.😇 The Father is never too busy. I can’t get in the “Oval Office”, but we are all welcome in the throne room of the Creator of the cosmos. Amen.

Life Can Be So Hard

My wife is better🎉. I can tell because she was on “my case” yesterday. I received tragic news about a long time friend, faithful member of our church who had moved to Alabama, was in an accident. The family has to make the decision to remove life support. Our prayers are with them, that the Father will surround them with His spirit, and they will be keenly aware of His presence in their lives.🙏 Life can be so hard, just can’t make it without Him, amen.

By the Rivers of Babylon

Message Sunday is “By the rivers of Babylon”. Judah was in captivity, the city in ruins, many dead, mocked by their captors to “sing us one of those praise songs”. They couldn’t. Here we are in Babylon, oppressed, mocked because of our faith. Don’t stop singing His praises (I’m going to sing Sunday...probably should not have told that😅) . Don’t stop serving till we’re delivered and home. Amen.

My Coffee Boils Over

Tough morning for my wife and a Deacon called on his way to hospital with a kidney stone🙏 (he won’t be able to sing a special this morning) - 😕my coffee boils over...a mess.😕Sometimes you want to throw up your hands and quit. The song I’ve been singing lately came to my mind, “the God of the mountain, is still God in the valley”. Father, we lift up those who are in pain, sorrow, struggling, please help us, in Jesus’ name, amen.

There Is Still Hope

Busy day!😇 Thank goodness🙏I don’t want to “rust out”, I “want to wear out”. The Father created us for His purposes. I know a number of folks, talented, deceived by Satan; their lives in shambles, unable to be what God created them to be. There is still hope even for those in prison. God and will use you there. Out of hope? Come to LBBC, we’re Lake Blackshear Baptist Church, the church without walls. Father, help us to fulfill Your purpose for our lives, amen.

In a Mess, but Blessed
Learning about this care giver thing.❤️ When I had open heart surgery in 2012, my wife was my caregiver. Now, it’s my turn. We saw our ortho doctor yesterday. She may not need surgery.🎉Another ortho doctor (retired and a member of our church family) has been there for us.😇 We are in a mess; but blessed. Father, thank You for being the God of the mountain and of the valley🙏amen.

Count Your Blessings

Talked and prayed with a lady on the phone, she’s on dialysis three times a week, cannot walk, and moving to nursing home. As we talked, I could hear the laughter of great-grands. She said, “I’m so blessed!” A new message that l’ve started working on is “In a mess, but Blessed”.🙏 Remember the old song: “count your blessings , name them one by one”?🙏 Father, thank You for life, help me be thankful, in all things, amen.

The Love of Christ

To all care givers: you have my prayers; thank you for the love and care you give. I understand now, just a little, and thank all of you who have been praying and reaching out to us. We can feel your love and concern. Elizabeth has immense pain; we do have some meds. We see the orthopedic  Dr. tomorrow. Paul tells us in Romans 8:35 that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, nothing! We hold to that today in the midst of all our trials - amen.
