Thanks for the Precious Memories

Memory machine working - 🤗 I was ten, my sister 6, we stole some of Daddy’s cigarettes, smoked them. That evening he discovered them missing. He asked mother if she got them; 😅he confronted us. My sister had blue eyes, blonde pigtails, and was the apple of his eye, with tears,  she pointed to me., “he made me!” Daddy bought it. Let’s stop the memory there!😕Father, thank You for “precious memories, how they linger”, amen!🙏

Do You Know Jesus?

Bro. Don Howell, an awesome preacher, posted a message yesterday in which he talked about the billions of dollars that some of our internet moguls have. He said started counting that aloud to get an idea of how huge it is (I quit after a 100😇). Then Bro. Don told of his grandfather who only had $600 when he died, but he possessed something that money can’t buy, that only the Blood of Jesus can secure, a home in heaven. The only question, Bro. Don said , is the only thing that will matter is do you know Jesus? His grandfather did! Thank you, Bro. Don, for that reminder, that reassurance. Amen.

What Do You Do?

What do you do when you can’t do anything? You pray!🙏 The sister-in-law of one of our church family is 38 weeks pregnant, and now they can’t detect a heart beat!❤️ I’m on my knees, praying for her, that father, that baby.🙏 Father, please hear our cries; please save this little life, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Forgiveness

Corrie ten Boom, survivor of the Nazi death camps, saw her family murdered, and her sister starved to death. After a speaking engagement one evening, a man came up extended his hand...she said, “I froze. He was a guard at the camp, and he didn’t recognize me. He was a Christian now. It was a pivotal moment in my life, my ministry.” She said, “God spoke to me. I forgave him, and took his hand.” Father, thank You for forgiving me, help me forgive others, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Praise to the Great I Am

Riding to get breakfast for the ladies, I started singing (aren’t you’re glad you were not present🤗)! All of my family sings and plays. I got left out. l’m one of those “joyful noise” folks-yet that’s what Psalm 100 tells us do. Today, Father, we lift up our voices in joyful praise to the great “I am!” We maybe off key, but it’s from our heart. Amen.

Peace, Be Still

Scary on I-75 with a pickup pulling a boat trailer in the rain and darkness...no tail lights!  It was a scary moment for Peter, James, John, and the rest of the disciples on Lake Galilee. It was dark with the waves threatening to capsize their boat. Jesus was asleep, while the disciples cried, “don’t You care, we’re about to die!” Message this Sunday is “peace, be still”. It’s a scary time in our world; oh, we need to hear those words, “peace, be still”. Father, we can’t make it without You, we need “peace, be still”, amen.

The Life Giving Word

This week in 1832, a young lawyer from Illinois ran for office for the first and lost. His name was Abraham Lincoln. Meanwhile in Middle GA - members of our family were building a log cabin (we still have it). In 1864, some of Sherman’s outriders stopped by and made my granddaddy, nine years old, draw water for their horses. That family legend is precious, but it’s the word of God, His Bible, that tells us that He sent His Son not to condemn but to save us. Read the Bible through this year, you can google up a plan, start with John’s gospel. Father, thank You for Your life giving word, amen.

Death Is the Physical Entry to Eternal Life

Oh my, thank you for the anniversary wishes. We sat on the sofa together and read them one by one.❤️ Two “seasoned” love birds filled with joy. Read this “hug the ones you love tightly, and tell them you love them”. It may be the last opportunity. That’s good advice, but because of Jesus we’ll have an eternity for this❤️! Thank You, Father, that physical death is the entry to eternal life.🙏 Amen!

We Pray for Families

Today is Elizabeth and mine’s 58th Anniversary!❤️ She’s been with me through thick and thin...more thin🤗in our twilight years. We are most thankful for our three children; they all have jobs...all involved in music ministry. We brag on them a lot...please forgive us!😇 We also have a great son in law!❤️ We are blessed.🙏 Father, we pray for families, please help them to be what You’ve called them to be, in Jesus name, amen

No Condemnation

Paul says in 1st Timothy that he was the chief of sinners! The only reason Paul could say that was because I had not been born yet. Do you ever feel that way? Rejoice, Jesus came for people like us. He was accused of fellowshiping with “sinners”! He still does! This Monday, let’s rejoice in this - there is now therefor no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus!! Amen.

God Has a Purpose

My “baby sister” is playing the piano and singing for us today.🎉 She’s been everywhere, done every thing! Graduated magna cum laude from Georgia (I graduated, lawdy, lawdy🤗)! We were reared @hardscrabblepoor. The constant in our lives has been a personal relationship with the Father. No matter who you are or the circumstances, God has a purpose for every life. Father, we lift up all mothers and fathers, please encourage them to rear their children to know You; it’s the most important thing in life, amen.

The Day Is Coming

A flock of buzzards descended on my yard. Oh no, I thought; I quickly took my pulse. It was an armadillo someone had killed on the edge of our yard.😇 I have preached many funerals. Our physical bodies: from dust we came, to dust we shall return, but, oh our souls, our spirits go immediately to be with Him. The day is coming when our bodies will be gloriously raised (1st Corinthians 15:50-56 & 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18). Sounds like preaching? I plead guilty.😇 Father, thank You for another day, help use it wisely for You, amen.

Pray for America

The motel sign blinked over and over “pray for America”. I have; we have. Pray for peace? The pledge of allegiance popped in my mind: “one nation, under God!” Oh my, we’ve strayed; we’ve worshiped false gods, (whatever has first place in our lives is our god). So my prayer is “forgive us”. Father, we return to and worship only You, forgive us, amen.

Pop Up Blessings

Had a pop up blessing last night.🎉As we were leaving church after streaming the service, a couple, former members who had moved away, drove up. We had not seen them in ages.❤️ Oh the joy🤗! The Father knew we needed that and made a way! 🎉Today, watch for the pop up blessings, they will come.  Father, we thank You for all things, in Jesus’ name, amen.

The Price That Was Paid

We had first COVID shot yesterday. My wife had no reaction. My arm is really sore and had a chill last night. It’s a small price to pay for protection😇. I remembered the price that our Lord paid on the cross for our deliverance. We’ll have to take the “shot” again, but Jesus’ work on the cross was once and for eternity. Thank you Jesus for Your eternal work and now at the right hand of the Father, You make intercession for us, oh my, amen.
