Thanks for the Awesome Moments

Had the family yesterday. We had wonderful food (too much), but the best part was when we gathered around the piano. Our son played, and we had our family sing along. It goes back to the days when he was nine years old at the old upright piano at his grandparents. Oh my, such sweet memories, I got a little misty eyed. Father, thank You for the precious memories and the awesome moments You give us now. Thank You. Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving

58 years in radio and TV - I am remembering working Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Today, for all those had to go in to serve us, to protect us, to heal us, I lift you up to the Father. Thank You,❤️ Father, we pray now for all those who had “to go in” today. Please watch over and encourage them; we ask in Jesus' name, amen. Happy Thanksgiving!

Start Praying

Read a news blurb on the internet - it was bad! All the news is bad. I felt helpless and unable to do anything about it, so I started praying. The only good news is that God loves us and has made a way. I'm praying more often now. "Lord, come raise all the dead in Christ, take your church home in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye”. Father, we pray now for those who have rejected Your love and grace, that they would respond before it is everlastingly too late, amen..

Simply Say Thank You to God

Got my plate loaded today due to bad scheduling😇! It's not how busy we are, but how faithful we are. Father, on this busy Tuesday, give us a moment to stand still and simply say “thank You”. For what? Literally for everything but most of all for Your saving grace!! Off to the races, but thank You, Father, amen.

You’ve Got to Watch the Holy Spirit

Oh, you’ve got to watch the Holy Spirit! He took over our service yesterday, a lady (married her and husband a few months ago) came to accept Christ! Then one of our most faithful members - full of the Holy Spirit - came to testify and invite people to come to the cross and pray. It was awesome🙏.  Yeah, you’ve got to watch the Holy Spirit!! People were texting me and said they could feel His presence. Oh, Holy Spirit, fill us, use us!! Amen.

To God Be the Glory

We did it! No wait they did it! I was just a picture taker; they completed the access ramp for the gentleman who will soon use it - we pray. We had 17 men show up to work, and they did work! The highlight of the day was a grandfather who brought his two grandsons, and they worked! We could see the pride in his eyes. It was a good day. I sent pictures to the man who will use the ramp; he summed it up the best way - “to God be the glory!". Amen!

We Are One As the Body

Saturday, our brotherhood is gathering to finish a ramp, so a gentleman can access it with his wheel chair. There will be good natured humor and kidding while the work goes on, as we take joy in our fellowship as Christ followers. One of the great benefits of being a Christ follower is, that despite any differences, we are one as the body, the bride of Christ. Father, we ask that You bless our labor today. We do ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Need a Job?

Need a job? We’ve got them! Every place is hiring! God created us to work. In Gen. 2:15 Adam and Eve were to tend the garden; that one is still on the “books”. Some think that heaven is a really long vacation, but there we will be free from the power, the penalty and the presence of sin. Oh, I believe that the Father has things for us to do that we can’t even imagine now. Oh Father, we long for Your return; we are ready to work, now and then, in Jesus' name, amen.

Come, Even Now, Jesus

The charge hurled against Jesus was "Your Master eats and drinks with sinners! What’s wrong with Him?". I thought of the walls that divide us: ethnic, political, social, economic, etc. All of these walls are encouraged by Satan to keep us from focusing on the key thing that the day is coming soon when the walls will fall and every knee will bow and confess Jesus as Lord! Come even now Lord Jesus! Amen!!

Help Us to Help Others

A group of men from our brotherhood are planning to build an access ramp at a home Saturday to help a man injured in an auto accident; he’s in a wheel chair. COVID, we’ll follow safety rules. COVID can slow us down, but it can’t stop us! Matthew 25:40: "inasmuch as you did to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me!” Father, help us to help others in Jesus' name, amen.

Just As I Am

Sunday my daughter sung an old hymn at decision time, I asked her to sing another verse, and a gentleman, who had been visiting our church for awhile, came to change his “duty station” to join the church. Sing a little of it: "Just as I am with out one plea; but that Thou blood was shed for me, oh Lamb of God, I come”. Oh my, that’s the only plea we have. Amen?

Our Defense

Working on a message about demons. They are real. Jesus confronted them often, and they recognized Him as the Son of God. They know their ultimate fate. They revel in bringing pain and suffering. Our defense is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Be in constant communication with God. Your Father wants to hear from you. He won’t get bored or too busy...ask (I do). Father, fill me now with Your Holy Spirit! He will! It’s the ultimate defense against demons. As our son says, "dad, prayer works!” - amen.

It’s His Grace, Grace, Grace!

We observe the Lord's Supper this morning. Our son-in-law and daughter worship on line with us in Rome, GA. He said we have some juice and bread; we want to participate. I said yes! It’s not the elements, but the intent of our hearts, as we do this remembering what He did for us on the cross. Jesus used the leftovers from the last Passover. He broke pieces of bread from the loaf; they drank probably from a common cup. If you have bread, juice, whatever, join us at 9:30 or 11 AM. Does it need to be unleavened? No, we live not under the old covenant but His grace, grace, grace!! The second cup after the service was for the new covenant Luke 22:20. It’s His grace, grace, grace, amen.

Why Didn't You Tell Us How Beautiful Heaven Is?

This is a true incident. After the doctor (she is a Christian) was able to resuscitate the young man, she asked, “what did you see?” He replied, “I saw gold!”. My mind raced to Rev. 21:21. John says the streets are gold, the walls are jasper, and the gates are pearl. John was trying to describe the indescribable. A young girl, who was able to see for the first time, asked her mother, “why didn’t you tell me how beautiful the world is?” Her mom, replied, “honey, I tried”. When we reach that city, after we have taken in its beauty, we’ll ask John, why didn’t you tell us how beautiful it is. He’ll respond, "I tried!” Read Rev. 21 today. Amen.

Lord, Take This Virus Away

Our daughter and son in law were exposed to the virus yesterday at a funeral for his grandmother. A distant family member, who was feeling bad and bent and determined to attend, came. She went to the doctor after the service and tested positive. She sat next to our children. They all had on masks, but she coughed during service. Again, asking for prayers for all🙏🙏. Father, with the little girl in our church, I pray as she does, “Lord, please take away this old germ!! Amen.
