God Is Never Too Busy

I see often on Facebook requests for prayer. I try to pause and pray right then for that request This morning I have two “unspoken” requests. They are on my mind, in my heart. When you pray, ask the Father to hear this “country bumpkin preacher”. He’ll know exactly what you mean🙏. We love “hearing” from our children. God is never too busy to take a call, so try it today. It’s not “long distance”; it’s a local call🙏. Call your Father. He’s on the line. Amen.

What’s On Your Mind

Facebook asks “what’s on your mind?". At this stage of life I have to make notes and even then I forget things. One thing engraved on my heart (and I'm more aware of it than ever before) is just how blessed I am. If you hear me complaining, just give me a swift kick!😁 Father,we bow humbly before You; thank You for another day of physical life; help us use it wisely for You, in the name of Jesus, amen.

Birthdays Are Time Markers

My wife’s birthday was yesterday. I brought her flowers and a card; the girls had special gifts for her; our son did a Facebook page and over a 100 wished her happy birthday. Thank You🎉! Birthdays are time markers. Jesus had 33,  yet He is eternal...no beginning, no end - the alpha and omega for us. Father, thank You for our eternity which began when we trusted You, as our Lord and Saviour, in Jesus' name amen.

Well Done, Thou Good & Faithful Servant

Our son-in-law's grandmother, Ms. Ruby, passed away this morning at the age of 96. I thought of all that she had seen and experienced in her life. She was part of the greatest generation of WWII. She saw it all the good and the bad, but nothing compares with what she is seeing and experiencing now - in the very presence of the Lord! She received the highest accolade “well done thou good and faithful servant! Enter now into the joys prepared for you"! We will see her again one day, soon! Are you ready? Amen?

Pray for Our Veterans

We honor veterans in our service this morning. We have one Gold Star mother in our church, her son died in combat and a large number of combat veterans. Don’t care how many John Wayne movies you’ve seen, if you’ve not served then you don’t know. Do you know a veteran? Thank them for their service🇱🇷. Father, we pray for veterans, those on active duty, and those who are serving now. Please care for them and their families; we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

We Trust in Jesus

Had the joy of observing the Lord's Supper with some folks - who because of the virus hadn’t been to church for awhile. It was such a blessing to this country bumpkin preacher. The first Lord's Supper was in the upper room with Jesus, Himself, serving the disciples. At the conclusion of the supper He spoke the awesome words of John 14. "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me". Oh Lord, we do believe and trust You, amen.

God Owns All Things

Hear about the preacher who couldn’t find a place to park his Mercedes?? He sold it and bought one already parked. Wait, all Jesus owned was His robe, and they took it and gambled for it. No wait, John 1:3 says all things were made by Him. That means everything belongs to Him! Took me awhile to learn that (slow learner); we are to make wise use of the resources He has entrusted us with. We are to use them to worship Him, to further the Kingdom, to bless others in His Name, to care for our needs and to return to Him: the first fruits and the tithes/the love offerings. Any amens on that?

Amazing Grace Can Happen

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. The writer of this best known hymn was a slave trader and involved in other evil practices. God’s Holy Spirit was able to break through Satan's evil influence, and he was dramatically saved. I don’t know the most evil person today (I've got some candidates for the position), but I don’t want anyone to die and go to hell. If you haven’t experienced His Amazing Grace, that's where you’re headed. Father, we ask that Your Holy Spirit be free to touch and save those who are lost. You saved me; I know it can happen in Jesus' name, amen.

Come Get Your Children

Old prayer my mama taught me begins with "God is great; God is good". That’s all we can cling to. I pray now 1st Thessalonians 4: "there will be a trumpet blast, a great shout, and all the dead in Christ shall rise, and we who remain will be swiftly taken away". Father, come get Your children, we are ready. We ask in Jesus' name, amen.

We Will Hold to the Promise of Romans

Prayer and coffee time with the men this morning. We will pray for healings, deliverances, for the election, but most of all that God's will be done in our lives. We hold to this promise that neither life nor death, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen and amen.

Pray for Our Nation

Brrrrr! Chilly! Plateful today, but no complaints. Thank You, Father, for the opportunities You give us. We were created for worship and service to You. I'm in deep prayer for our nation; we are so divided. The work of Satan is trying to destroy the work of God - a nation founded on Christian principles, the mightiest missionary force ever. Father, please deliver us, save us, we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Give Our Fears Over to God

Be careful what you pray for is the old saying. I prayed for a great trunk or treat yesterday, and it was awesome. Our folks are dead tired but filled with joy as we reached well over 100 children and their families. This morning we celebrate in worship. The message is about fear. With so much turmoil fear comes. Father, we give our fears, our worries over to You; You are ever present in our lives. We feel Your presence, amen.

Isn’t It Amazing

Oh my, what a beautiful full moon this morning. Isn’t it amazing that all of the wonder, beauty and complexity of this world just happened by accident?  That’s what some scientists believe - it just happened, but let this 5th grade dropout enlighten them. Genesis 1:1: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. I know this because His Holy Spirit has revealed it to us! Amen and Amen!

Hope Comes

Attended two funerals yesterday (preached one), I liked what the pastor said at the one I just attended. When death comes there is hurt, we’ve all been there, help comes. Family and friends flock to our side. The pastor said hope comes...the promise of God, that we don’t sorrow as those who have no hope, that all of the dead in Christ will rise again. Read 1st Thessalonians 4. Father, we pray now for all those who are in sorrow, for their hurt, their help, their hope, in Jesus' name, amen.
