We Need God

Oh Father, we need You. I learned over the weekend of more cases of the virus. Some are in the hospital. Lord, we are helpless and hopeless without You. We bow in humbleness before You and ask for their healing. We thank You for an answered prayer as a young family came to be part of the church family yesterday; this country bumpkin preacher was overwhelmed. Please forgive me for rambling, this was on my heart this morning. Have a safe day, in Jesus' name, amen.

One Day Closer

Year is winding down with the weather changing, Christmas ads running, and getting tax bills😇. This world is moving toward Christ’s return; we’re one day closer. As the world had a definite beginning (read about it in Genesis), it will have a definite end (read about in Revelation). For some it will be a time of great joy and for others a time of eternal regret. Father, help us today to share the good news, that all would be saved, in Jesus' name, amen.

What Is Prayer

Thank You, Father! A couple from our church has been healed of the virus🙏. Quoting my son “dad, prayer works”!  Prayer is not trying to get God to change His mind about something; it is expressing our total need of Him and our absolute reliance on the Father. Prayer should not be our last desperate attempt after all else has failed. I can’t get in the Oval Office, but we have 24/7 access to the throne room of the creator God. He wants to hear from us. Let’s pray. Father, thank You for everything, we will praise You in everything, heal us, and forgive us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Save Us Now

For anyone who doesn’t think the virus is real or they’re not at risk, I have a number of families that I can direct you to in intense pain and suffering. Some have lost loved ones to it. Please obey the safety rules; please pray. Let's do that now. Father, God, in the Name of Jesus we ask for healing, for deliverance from this virus. We repent of all our sins, save us now! Amen, Amen!

What Can We Do?

My daughter watched the news (I don’t watch it), and then told me all the scary stuff going on about the virus, the anarchy, the politics, etc. Folks, we’re in a mess! What can we do? Only one thing, we can get on our knees, literally, and repent as a nation! I was in a meeting Monday with about 50 preachers; they all believed that the Rapture may be near. Are you prepared? If were today, would you be taken? Father, we bow before You and repent; we plead the Blood of Jesus, amen!

Do You Know Jesus

Our house phone (yes, we still have one😇) number has been hacked😝! If I call it will be on my cell phone, others will be ‘scam’ calls. When the scam artists call, I respond with “why do you want to be a crook?” or “do you know Jesus?”. Then click, they hang up. I wonder if they ever think about what I’ve said? Father, today we pray for those ensnared by Satan, for their salvation, and for their deliverance, in Jesus' name, amen.

Everyone Prays

Coffee and prayer time with the men this a.m. Social distancing...we don’t talk about how many fish we caught; we pray! Everyone prays - even non-believers. They would deny it, but it’s part of our spiritual dna. We were created a living body? No, A living soul. I can’t get in the Oval Office, but we have access to the throne room of the Creator 24/7. Thank You, Father, for this awesome privilege, in Jesus' name, amen.

Well Done

If a funeral can be good, the one I attended yesterday was good. I listened as two pastors weaved scripture and memories to comfort and reassure the family (both pastors had known and been involved with the family for years). It was all about a Christian wife, mother, grandmother who had lived her life as God intended in love and service to Him and others. Oh my, Father, help us to live the life You gave us in that manner amen. The only statement I would had added was "well done, thou good and faithful servant”. Amen again.

Make Precious Memories Today

Drove home from the farm (back in the home I grew up in - more than a hundred years old). An old song came in my mind "precious memories”. Oh, how they linger. Memories are a gift from God. With our family, our friends, Father, help us make precious memories now. Today - set aside time for worship either online or in person. Let’s join with our family, our friends, and worship. Amen.

Created To Live For God

Hebrews tells us “it is appointed to us to die”. I believe it. In the past few months, I’ve had ten funerals, and there have been many other deaths of friends and family. Death only brings the end of our physical existence. Our spirit, our soul, will live eternally. We are created to live not to die. We are created to have a personal relationship with the Father, none of our existence is by happenstance, it’s by design by the Father. Oh, by the way over 70 percent of Americans believe there’s a heaven and want to go there. I do. Don’t you? Amen.

When the Rapture Comes

Going to “the farm” tomorrow...where I grew up. I’ll visit the graves of our family...precious memories. When the rapture comes (maybe soon?), I’d like to be standing in that cemetery. At two graves, one says Rogers and the other Effie, and I will say, "Come on Mama and Daddy; let’s go meet the Lord in the sky". Do you have a special place where you would like to be at the rapture? In Rev. 22, Jesus says, “Behold I come quickly”. "Even so", John says, "come Lord Jesus!” Amen?

Sing Holy, Holy, Holy!

The Hebrew language has no exclamation point to emphasize something. They repeat a word to emphasize it. In Isaiah 6, the seraphim cried out antiphonally, “Holy, Holy, Holy!”, as Isaiah had a vision of the Lord. We’re always asking God for something, but this morning let’s just sing, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, early in the morning we lift our voice to thee”. Feel better? I do! Amen.

We Hold to God’s Promise

Scientists are working trying to find an answer to a strange phenomena. If you hang a dress, suit, slacks in the closet and leave them there through thanksgiving and Christmas, then by January, they will have shrunk by two sizes🤗. I thought with the world we live in you could use a chuckle. Father, we don’t understand all that is happening in our world; sometimes we are worried, even frightened, but we hold to Your promise (Hebrews 13:5) "I will never leave you or forsake you”. Thank You, Father, amen.

Last Words

Message this Sunday will be "Last Words”. We’re fascinated by the final words of famous people. One actress cursed and told her maid, "don’t you dare ask God to help me”. What would we want our final words to be? In Luke 23:46, Jesus cried out, "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit”. Father, we thank You for being with us always -  even in the moment of death. We ask You to take us home with You, in Jesus' name, amen.

Hell Is No Joke

One of the young men in the seminary class told a joke about “hell”. They all laughed, and then the professor, wiped his glasses and said, “young men, don’t joke about that place, people are dying and going there". I confess that I’ve told a few over the years, but I’ve repented of that. God doesn’t send anyone to hell; it wasn’t designed for us, but for Satan and his angels. Today is the day of salvation, anyone who calls on the name of Lord shall be saved! Father, help us to share the good news with someone today, may Your Holy Spirit penetrate their hearts, in Jesus' name, amen.
