Are You in the Church? The Door Is Open.

Homecoming this Sunday - much different from those in the past - yet we will celebrate how God has blessed and used our church. No that’s wrong. It's His church. Jesus told Peter: "upon this rock I will build My church and nothing can prevail against it”! The rock was Peter's, our confession of Him as the Messiah, the Son of God!! Are you in the church? The door is wide open. Father, please continue to use Your church, help us to open the door to all, we ask in Jesus, name, amen.

Need Patience?

Ever get impatient? Dumb question. Remember the old joke: "Lord give me patience and give it to me right now!” Psalm 37 says: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him." Do you have a full plate today? I do...things I want to happen, to accomplish. Lord, give us strength and patience to wait on You. Please fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may “wait” upon You, we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Call Your Father

Helping with a funeral today...the sixth in as many weeks. It reminds us of the brevity of life - physical life. Our soul, our spirit, will never die. God created us “as a living soul”. As time slips away, how are we using it? Have we planned our day? Is worship a part of it? The Father really wants to hear from us. I know how glad we are when our children call. Our Father is the same. Father, thank You for being our “Abba” for caring for us. We rejoice in our relationship, in Jesus' name, amen.

Don’t Quit Praying

Been praying a long time and no answer? Luke 1:13, the angel appeared to Zacharias and told him: "your prayer has been heard!" He and wife Elizabeth had prayed for a child; they had been praying for maybe six decades! That child was to be John! As you, there are people and things I have been praying about and for a long time! Let’s don’t quit. Father, we trust you, we lift our prayers up to you, our great and merciful God. We trust you, in Jesus' name, amen.

Is That the Old Ship of Zion

"Is that the old ship of Zion sailing out on life’s troubled sea?” Zion is a synonym for Israel, brought into being by God for His purpose. Out of Zion would come Christ to make atonement for all sin, to establish His church. His church is built on the rock of our confession of Him as Lord and Savior. It's the old ship of Zion; it’s boarding now. Is your name on the passenger list? Father, we pray now for those still standing on the dock. We pray that they would board before we set sail, in Jesus' name, amen.

Don’t Conform to This World

Romans 12:2 warns us not to be conformed to this world or to the popular culture and manner of thinking which is in rebellion against God’s word. When we refuse to accept this worldly point of view, they will call us narrow minded or prejudiced. Examples: That it is ok to abort babies and same sex marriage. They’ve  made much of it “legal”, but it's not right. Father, today give us the courage to stand on Your Holy Word, fill us with Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name, amen.

Get on Board

Message this morning is "Get get on board”. Obviously it’s the story of Noah and the ark. He preached for 120 years that the day of judgment is near, "get on board”. Jesus said that it would be in a time like Noah’s that He would return. Read Genesis 6. Does it sound familiar? Every thought was only evil continually. It's time to get on board. Father, we lift up those who “need to get on board” before it’s too late; help us to reach them, in Jesus' name, amen.

Be Faithful to Christ

I’m not a scholar, but a student😇, but a deep thought about Ephesians 5 where we husbands are urged to love our wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. With Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus became the living embodiment of the Bridegroom and faithful Husband - who was willing to give up His life for the one He loved. oh, what an awesome Saviour we have. Church let us be faithful to Him. Amen!

As In the Days of Noah

"As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be when the Son returns." Words from the mouth of Jesus - what was it like in Noah’s day? Genesis 6:5 "and God saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts was only evil continually." It was a time just like the one in which we are living. God, have mercy on us, deliver us, we pray for Jesus’ return, in His name, amen.

The Great Silent Majority

My brother-in-law, Jimmy Davis, has an awesome post this morning on Facebook about “us” being the great silent majority. Please read it and pass it on. We believe in God; we obey the law (maybe with exception of the speed limit😅); we respect others and want the best for them; we do not riot or deface public monuments. Jimmy does a great job with this, please read it. Father, help us today, please deliver us from the evil that afflicts our nation, in Jesus' name, amen.

One Nation Under God

My sister in a recent column (Real Facts News) wrote about the pledge of allegiance. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”  She said, “what could possibly bother anyone who lives here about those words?" She went on to say “it doesn’t promise riches or perfection, those things require work!". Roger Ann (named for our father) said, "we must take ownership of our freedom to help ourselves, our families, and our neighbors around the world”.  Roger Ann, thank you. God, please help us to be one nation under You, amen.

The Sign Read...

A picture of a young woman carrying a sign in one of the protest marches was all over Facebook. The sign read "going to hell and proud of it". Oh my, what kind of generation have we reared in this nation? Obviously, Satan at work. She doesn’t grasp the reality and horror of the devil’s hell. I used to tell a few jokes about hell, but no more, because people are dying and going there. Father, we thank You for our salvation, and we lift up those who are lost that they they might be saved before it is everlastingly too late. Help us reach them in Jesus' name, amen.

Grave Mistake

Message today is "grave mistake”. We have all made mistakes, large and small. I've made many and still do. The ultimate mistake, the one Judas made and many others make, is not just in betraying Jesus, but the grave mistake is in not asking for His forgiveness, of being saved. Romans 8:1 states, "there is now therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus". Don’t make the “grave mistake!” Oh the Blood of Jesus can make the vilest sinner clean; it did for me, amen.

What Will People Say?

Had a funeral yesterday for a good friend. If a funeral can be good, it was good. We laughed; we cried; we shared awesome memories; we rejoiced in the Lord's promise of His return. What will they say about us at our funeral? I don’t have many accomplishments, but I hope they will say, he loved the Lord and he loved people, and that all of his sins (I have enough to sink a battle ship) were covered by the blood of Jesus. Lord, thank You for saving a wretch like me, amen🙏🙏!

Thank You

Thank you is not enough, but it’s all I have for all those who prayed for our daughter yesterday, who willingly helped with tasks about the church - thank you🎉😇❤️. It reinforces the need we have for a church family, to help us in times like this. Our daughter is doing well following the surgery🙏🙏. Father, thank You for giving us the opportunity to minister to others in Your Name, what joy it is, amen!
