God Is Still on the Throne

Just as I finished my first prayer at 5 am the thunder and lightning came. We need the rain for the crops. From the vantage point of my age, I can look back and see God’s mighty hand at work in our nation to protect and guide us through our darkest hours “nine-eleven” for a recent one. Now in the midst of this pandemic, don’t despair. God is still on His throne. David said, "yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me”!  Thank You Father, for your protection for your children, us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Family is Everything

Long phone conversation with my sister (she’s the brains in the outfit), she graduated magma cum laude from UGA. I graduated "lawdy, lawdy”. We talked family members (cousins) who were not doing well physically and in other ways. We resolved to pray for them and reach out to them. We remember what our mother said “blood is thicker than water”. She meant that family is everything. Before the tabernacle, the temple and even the church, God created the family. Father, thank You for  all the families, we ask for healing and yes, for their salvation, in Jesus' name, amen.

Is There Anything that God Won’t Forgive?

Is there anything God won’t forgive us of? The answer is no. Wait - what about "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?” Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when we deny His claim upon our lives; when we don’t accept Him or believe in Him. You can’t be forgiven because you won’t accept Him. There's good news. He still loves you and wants you. Read C.S. Lewis’ “From Atheism to Christianity”. Father, we ask for hearts to be opened today to the pleading of Your Holy Spirit; we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.

Start in the Right Place

When we find ourselves in a mess (that’s the South GA terminology), after venting our frustration and bemoaning our fate, we pray. That’s what we should have done in the first place. I am a good example. Something I tried to do yesterday, and I failed miserably. This morning at 4:20 a.m. I was praying. God opened my brain and showed me what to do. Father, forgive us for not starting in the right place, on our knees in prayer. We lift up those who are struggling; please deliver them and open their eyes, that they would pray in Jesus' name, amen.

Lift Us Up, Father

Funeral this morning for a husband, father, grandfather, and a giver who belongs to Christ. What more can I say? When we come to the end of our way here in this life, as we all will, what more could we ask that they say: "He-She, belonged to Christ." Father, we lift up those who are in sorrow, that You would surround them with Your love, and they would be keenly aware of Your presence in their lives, we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Seize the Moments

In this pandemic God will teach us important lessons. One that l’ve learned is to “seize the moment”. That’s what Peter and John did in Acts 3 & 4. When the crowd gathered following the healing of the lame man, they preached and many were saved. They were brought before the high court, and there they preached. In the last few days, several have called with various requests. Some had not been in worship in awhile. I seized the opportunity. At the grocery store, God has put opportunities before me. I’m a slow learner, but God has “jumped started” me on seizing the moment🙏. Father, help us today seize the moments today and to tell others about Your love, I ask in Jesus' name, amen.

It’s Mama’s Day!

It's Mother’s Day, but wait we’re in South GA. We say “mama”. We have Mother’s Day because of Mrs. Anna Jarvis (look it up), but we are celebrating today because of God’s plan. He created the first family when he brought Adam and Eve together. It's not good for us to be alone, so He created the first family. Family is the basic building block of society. Watch my message today "It's all about Mama”. Father, thank You for our families, we ask that You put Your arms about them, and help them to be all that You planned, in Jesus' name - amen. Happy "Mama's’” day❤️!

Repentance

Looked it up in the Greek the word “repentance” means a “changed mind”. To repent means we’ve changed the way we think about life; our behavior is changed; the direction of our life is changed. It is agreeing that God is right and we were wrong. "What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought, since Jesus came into my heart!” Father, thank You for our salvation in Jesus, amen.

God is in Control

Awake with thousands of thoughts, memories running through my mind - remembering moments of joy, sadness, regret. Ever been there? Have no clue what tomorrow holds, but through it all a deep conviction, assurance that He is in control. Jeremiah 29:11, "for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, not of evil to give you a future and a hope”. Thank You Father, we can make it. Selah, amen.

How to Live Each Day

I read this about how to live each day: pray, plan and proceed!  Each morning as we pray, let’s ask God to reveal His plan. Then let's listen for the Voice of His Holy Spirit. Prayer should always be first not an after thought. Father, today guide us, show us the way that You would have us go, the things You want us to do. Help us, we can’t make it without You, in Jesus' name, amen.

I’m in this Church

More and more I realize how much I need the church; it’s the body of Christ here on earth. For any who say they don’t need the church, you’re wrong. Jesus claimed ownership. He said “I will build My church and nothing can stop it.” "I’m in this church, I didn’t join, oh I was born”. Father, thank You for Your church, this glorious church that You’re coming back for soon; help us to worship You and reach others in Your name, we ask in Jesus' name amen.

Harvest Is Ready

The early church held all things “in common”. Three things marked them: they prayed, they cared and they shared. In this pandemic, I believe that God is drawing us back to that; people are praying as never before. I can tell they really care for others and oh my how they share. So many in our church have brought groceries for the food pantry (this weekend we have supplied two families: a husband and wife and a mother and daughter. Church, we are on the edge of a great harvest of souls. Father, today help us in prayer, to care and to share, in Jesus' name, amen.

God Give Us Direction

Sleep is elusive. It's not my conscience because Jesus’ blood took care of that on the cross. Father, we ask You to give our leaders wisdom in this time of fear and uncertainty. We need them, and they need You. Father, You are the only constant that we have. We trust You with our “today” and with our “eternity”. So many are struggling now - please give them direction and purpose, we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

You Are Our Hiding Place

Up early because of storm. I did all I could do - watch weather tv and pray. I remembered when the disciples were afraid in the storm (Matthew 😎). They did what I do...they cry out to Jesus!  He said to them and to me, "Don’t be afraid. Peace, Be Still”. The wind and the waves obey Him. Father, when we are afraid we run to You. I remember running to my mama and daddy, when I was afraid; our children did the same. Father, You are our “hiding place; we trust You with our everything in Jesus' name, amen.

Be Still and Know

Our church family is a blessing. They continue to call, to pray, to reach out. The latest yesterday - a family carried groceries to a lady who is home bound. (They also brought pound cake and biscuits to the preacher’s family🎉.) The Bible tells us (Psalm 46:10) “be still and know that I am God”. Being under this virus has given us plenty of time to be still and know that He is God and He’s still in charge. Father, we commit to you all of our unknowns in Jesus' name, amen to that church?
