Be Still and Know

Our church family is a blessing. They continue to call, to pray, to reach out. The latest yesterday - a family carried groceries to a lady who is home bound. (They also brought pound cake and biscuits to the preacher’s family🎉.) The Bible tells us (Psalm 46:10) “be still and know that I am God”. Being under this virus has given us plenty of time to be still and know that He is God and He’s still in charge. Father, we commit to you all of our unknowns in Jesus' name, amen to that church?

Be a Witness Today

The church exists for one purpose - to worship the Father and tell them about Jesus, Who saves. In Acts 1:8, we have our blue print "we shall be witnesses to Him to the ends of the earth!” Let’s be a witness today. We’ve got our phones, the internet, so before this day is over let’s tell someone that Jesus and Jesus alone saves! Father, help us today to tell others that Jesus saves. Again the song is right "the Blood of Jesus makes the vilest sinner clean.” Amen, church?

God Is Constant

This phrase in used in practically all conversations: "when it’s over”. I don’t think the president or the governor knows when it’s “going to be over”. I certainly don’t. I quote that great philosopher, Yogi Berra, "it ain’t over, till it’s over”, and when it’s “over” there will be a new “norm”. The constant in all of this is God. He is unchanging in His love for us and His desire to have a personal relationship with us. Father, we hold to Your unchanging hand. Please help us in these uncertain times, in Jesus' name, amen church.

Do We Truly Love Him

To me one of Jesus’ most compelling post resurrection appearances was in John’s gospel chapter 21 for the restoration of Simon Peter...who had denied Him three times - the last with a curse. Here Jesus asks Peter three times “do you love Me?”.  We may need to ask ourselves the same question. Do we truly love Him? Is there any person or thing that has first place in our lives? This is a time of self examination. If our answer is yes, then His response is “Feed My Sheep”! Father, we love you,in Jesus' name, amen church.

Even So, Come, Lord Jesus

Resurrection-Easter Sunday is behind us. Do we go back to the “new norm?” For 40 days following His resurrection, Jesus was active in reassuring His disciples, restoring Simon Peter, and promising the coming of the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells them the return is in the Father’s hands and gives us the great commission. The two men in white, following His ascension, assure them of Jesus’ return in the air. We are now on a time line between His ascension and His return. I don’t know exact time, but it’s closer than yesterday. The major question? Are we prepared? Do we have “oil in our lamps!” Father, with John in the Revelation in the last verse, "even so come, Lord Jesus." Amen, church, amen.

Fear Not - God Is Here

Up early...red alert...severe thunder storms. Several states have suffered major damage. Why? Over my pay grade, but nothing occurs that God doesn’t allow or ordain. We live under the “curse”. I realize anew and afresh just how much we need Jesus. He’s all we have! Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not; I am with you. Be not dismayed; for I am your God. I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Father, You are all we have, please keep us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Happy Game Changer Day

It is the “game changer” day! It’s Resurrection Sunday!! Everything that we believe and hold to be true and dear relies on the truth of His resurrection. He appeared to the women early that morning, then to Peter, to the two disciples on the Emmaus road, and then to all the disciples except Thomas. Most importantly has He appeared to you and to me in our lives? He will. He can if we ask Him! Happy game changer day! Our worship service live at 11 AM on church website and Facebook page. He’s alive! He reigns!

Coming Back to the Father

Many have said this virus has brought out the worst in us: hoarding bathroom tissue (actually fighting over it), gathering in large groups disregarding the guidelines, but in my personal experience people have reached out to us and others. We've had one of our deacons delivering a prescription to a family, a deacon calling to pray for us, an RN in our church calling for me to pray with the staff at the clinic, and another deacon and his wife delivering a delicious supper to our doorstep. I can go on and on. I believe God is using this to discipline us, to teach us, to bring us closer to each other and back to Him. Father, today teach us, use us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Save Me, O God

What can I do during this crisis? Comply with the governor shelter order, the local curfew and of course pray. It's an excellent time to be one on one with the Lord. We don’t have an excuse that we’re too busy and hope He will be satisfied with a little “warmed over TV dinner prayer time". Psalm 54 “save me O God, by Your Name, and vindicate me by Your strength..Hear my prayer, O God”. Amen.

In the Twinkling of an Eye

Paul tell us in Ist Thessalonians 4 "for the Lord, Himself, shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and then the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so we shall ever be with the Lord”. Paul adds in 1st Corinthians “it will happen in the twinkling of an eye!” That’s enough to put us on shouting ground this Wed. Amen. Live streaming tonight at 7 on our web site. Please join us.

Have Mercy on Me

I cry with David, "Have mercy on me, oh God, according to Your loving kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin”. Father, this is our plea on this Monday, in Jesus' name, amen.

Claim God’s Promises

Live worship at 11 am, on our website and Facebook.🙏Our children's director will have something for the children'😇. The message today is "handwriting on the wall” from  Daniel 5. It was an awesome moment in history. God was keeping his promise to bring His children home. The Babylonian empire was no more; Cyrus would set them free. God keeps His promises. He has promised eternal life and a home in heaven with Him. Have you claimed His promise? He’s waiting for you to come home. Father, help us to worship You and claim Your promise today, in Jesus name, amen.

We Win

Scary times...aren’t they? Psalm 91:5, "Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor, for the arrow that flies by day”. As Christians we face the same difficulties as those unsaved, but nothing - absolutely nothing - can ever happen to us as God’s children unless He allows it or orders it. Hey, I read the back of the Book. We win!  Father, we trust You with our today and our eternity, in Jesus' name, amen.

Be Still and Know

People are in a hurry. I watched drivers weaving in and out of traffic...speeding. Have we learned nothing? The Psalmist tells us “Be still, and know that I am God”. Today, let’s find a time of quiet reflection not asking for anything - just rejoicing in His love and grace. Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Oh how we need it, in Jesus' name, amen.

The King Is Coming

Reminder we will stream worship service tonight at 7 PM on our website and Facebook🎉. This was all over Facebook yesterday. Someone put up the lyrics from the Gaither song, "The King is Coming”. Remember the words, "the market place is empty, no more traffic in the streets, all the builders tools are silent, no more time to harvest wheat; busy housewives cease their labors, in the courtroom, no debate, work on earth all suspended as the King comes thru the gate". I was moved to tears. Oh, our King is coming soon; are you prepared? As John said “even so come Lord, Jesus”. Amen.
