God Needs Our Attention

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, the living God. Now that we are distancing, we have more time to talk with (not to but with) God. Let’s use it. Had a few distractions, but now He’s got my attention. Does He have yours? Father, we praise your Name, use us, show us the way we should go in Jesus' name, amen.

What to do during a Crisis?

Thanks to two of the ladies in our church family for preparing a box of groceries to help an elderly couple😇! What to do during this crisis? Pray! Obey the guidelines and rules; look for ways to safely help others. Father, we hear Your voice; we repent; we pray not selfishly for ourselves, but for others who are struggling for those who do not know you, in Jesus' name, amen.

We Just Praise Him

Went to preachers' meeting yesterday to talk about how to worship and serve in this time of crisis. We prayed and encouraged each other. It was time well spent. I feel frustrated. I'm cut off from the hospitals and nursing homes, but we’re not cut off from the Father, His door is always open. Talk to Him about your fears, hopes. Call to Him; it’s a local call. Now Father, we just praise You, in Jesus' name, amen.

See You Online

Watched the president’s briefing to limit gatherings to ten people. This Sunday we will not have a public service. We will stream our service live on the internet (go to our website: lackblackshearbaptistchurch.com or our Facebook page). We will sing hymns, and I will preach. Many did watch this past Sunday. We will soon have a place on our web site where you can tithe online, or you can mail to 650 S Coney Road, Cordele, GA 31015. It is a strange new world that we are in. Maybe Satan's plan to destroy Christ’s Church, but in Matthew Jesus said, “I will build My Church and even the gates of hell shall not prevail against it!” Amen! See you online.

We Ask for Healing

We’re in a mess! I’m using the southern meaning of that word. We’re like the woman in Luke 8 with a 12 year issue of blood. She had spent all she had on doctors. In desperation, she turns to Jesus. Lord, please let us just touch the hem of Your garment. We ask for healing and deliverance from this plague that threatens us. Heal us, please, in Your name, amen.

United in One Flesh

Helping with a wedding today. A young couple are beginning a life together. I did the pre-marital counseling and was so impressed with their strong commitment to the Lord. Jesus taught that a man shall leave his father and mother and unite with his wife in the building of a home, and the two shall become one flesh. One physically; one spiritually. Father, we lift up this young couple and the home they are forming; please bless it. We pray for all our families, in Jesus' name, amen.

Fear Not

Feel helpless? This virus, seemingly, will overwhelm us. Our whole life style has changed. What can we do? Isaiah 41:10 gives the answer: ”Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Father, help us, deliver us, we ask in Jesus name, amen.

Who’s in Charge

Who’s in charge? The government? The medical community? We pray for them, but this current crisis teaches us once again that our only hope, our only rock, is the Father God. Lord, this morning we bow in humbleness before You. We ask You to heal us and to forgive us. We are helpless without You. It's a busy weekend with a wedding and a deacon ordination. Thank You for the opportunities. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

The 25th Psalm

Prayer for today is David’s 25 Psalm: "Remember, o Lord, Your tender mercies and Your loving kindnesses, for they are from old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, o Lord”. That’s my prayer for this morning. Thank You, Father! A sweet lady in our church had surgery yesterday; it went well. Another sweet lady will have a special test today, we lift her up. On my way to GSW University to share with a nursing class about my heart surgery. Amen and amenn.

Go the Extra Mile

Our folks talk the talk and walk the walk. Had a plumbing diaster at church from all the rain. Some of our deacons, their wives, youth director rolled up their sleeves and went to work to clean up. We've got professionals coming in to repair everything. Father, thank You for all those who love You and go the extra mile. Help us go the “extra mile” to reach others for You. Thank You for another day of physical life, help us spend it for You. Amen.

Time Changes But Not God

Never know when or where the next blessing will be. While getting breakfast for my wife and daughter (regular place not open due to time change), I went across the street. My order was not something they usually do, but they were so gracious. They asked for prayer, and there under the “Golden Arches” I prayed for them. Oh what a gracious, awesome God we serve!! Time has changed, but He hasn’t! Amen!

The Lord Will Return

A friend forwarded these pictures taken I believe in Colorado. My mind raced to 1st Thessalonians 4, "For the Lord, Himself, will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds" and in 1st Corinthians 15:52, "in the twinkling of an eye”!  See you in worship Sunday, amen.

Let’s See Jesus

Talking with a friend on the phone last nite (her family sings & coming for our revival), she works at a personal care home. One of the residents at a worship service ‘coded’. Had no pulse, so my friend began CPR. The leader of the worship, a retired missionary (he’s 90), stayed and prayed as she performed CPR. After some minutes, the ladies eyes opened. When she could speak, her first words were "I saw Jesus!” Remember He said, "I will be with you always.” Father, when the time of our departure comes, let's see first Jesus. That's all you need for this Friday, amen.

Help Others in the Storm

What awesome sheriff and staff we have! In the midst of all they were having to do with the flood and their regular duties, they reached out to help a couple stranded here. I called them, and they responded. Thank you Hand of Hope also. Some things are just over my pay grade. When you have done it to the least of these, you have done it unto Me (Matthew 25:40). Father, deliver us from the storm, in Jesus' name, amen.

Just Call on Him

Oh how God worked yesterday personally🎉with one our deacons. We ministered to members and friends in the Macon hospital then delivered groceries and a Bible (thank you my Gideon friend) to a lady. We told her to read John’s gospel first - gives us all we need to know to be in relationship with the Father. John 3:3 a "you must be born again”. You can have the new birth just call on Him. He will hear and answer. Amen.
