News of Great Joy

Busy Monday with doctor appointments, delivering toys, and church Christmas party tonight. The message this Sunday will be “the truth about the wise men”. I like the song, but the next time you hear it compare it with Matthew 2:1-12. All of our beliefs must stand the test of scripture. Let’s greet one another with “Merry Christmas". The shepherds were told it was news of great joy. We have a Savior! Amen.

Away in a Manger

Away in a manger is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Why was Jesus born in a manger? Because of over crowding in Bethlehem? No room in the inn?? No. He was born in a manger because God planned it that way. Paul tells us that He emptied Himself...not of His divinity but His glory...to become one of us...to experience every thing we experience...to remain sinless...so that He could be our Passover lamb...so that by believing in Him we could be saved. Away in a manger was God’s plan. Amen.

It’s God’s Weekend

Bumped into young lady and her mom from our church early this a.m. on way to ABAC to take a pre-college test. Praying for a safe trip and that she will do well on the test. Oh my, they grow up so fast😇! Bumped into some Crisp cougar fans. The Cougar football team and fans are on the way to Atlanta. Pray for a safe journey, and that they can play their best🎉. Father, thank You again for the opportunities You give us to reach out to others. It’s Your weekend. Help us to use it well, in Jesus' name, amen.

Had a Blessing Lately?

Great day of visitation and ministry by delivering food to  two families. Thanks to those who gave, who packed the boxes and those who helped deliver it. We had a blessing last night. I was out for supper with the family, and another precious family took care of our bill🎉. Father, we thank You for all the blessings You pour out on us and for making a way when there seems to be no way. Had a blessing lately? On this Friday, let’s lift our hands in praise to our creator and redeemer! Amen.

The Most Important Thing

Funeral for the oldest member of our family was yesterday. I came home from worship...dead tired. My sister called to tell me that another cousin had been found dead in her car that ran off the road🙏. Oh my -what is next? Thank you Father, they were both saved. That’s the most important thing. We will work through the grief, the separation. Now we celebrate Christ coming into our world and into our lives🙏amen.

Rise Up and Call Her Blessed

On my way to Camilla for the funeral of the matriarch of our family - age 91. She was an awesome mother, grandmother, great grand mother, wife, and Christian lady. Her family rises up and calls her “blessed”😇. Thank you to all the ladies who filling those roles. God knew what He was doing when He said "it’s not good for man to be alone”. Thank you, Father, for our help mates. Amen.

Wear Out Not Rust Out

Our church family member is improving! God’s Grace is so awesome❤️! I'm speaking to the Montezuma's Kiwanis club and taking my wife to a doctor’s appointment. Life can get busy. There are times, moments of reflections, that are so necessary. But we don’t want to “rust out". We want to "wear out”. Father, thank You for another day of physical life. Help us use it wisely...not too early. “Merry Christmas”!!  Amen.

Now Is the Time

Awesome night of worship🎉! We are on our way to Macon to see a member of our church family in the hospital. Monday is the start of a new week and a new opportunity. One day our opportunities will run out. Now is the time. The Father gives it to us. Father, when we have no more days, no more opportunities - let us hear You say "well done, thou good and faithful servant”. Amen.

The Time Is Now

Life can change in a split second. One of our church family was injured in an accident yesterday. He was air lifted to Macon. I saw the car - totally destroyed. Only God’s providence spared him. We are in deep prayer. The time is now. There's no delay to ask Him to be your Lord and Saviour. It’s the most important decision we ever make! Our cantata is tonight at 6 p.m. Please come and worship with us. Amen.

Pause and Thank God

It's Saturday😇, and everyone is excited. The Cougars won🎉! We have our final rehearsal for our cantata tonight🙏. Father, we pause in the midst of all this to simply say thank you. Thank you for everything - for another day of physical life. Help us to use it wisely. Your scripture tells us “to be still and know that You are God”. Amen. Please join us Sunday night for our cantata at 6 p.m. followed by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. There will be a gift for each child. Finger food and fellowship to follow.

Feel The Christmas Spirit

Had a wonderful evening with a Christian couple. It made our day. This morning I noticed how friendly people were holding doors for others and saying good morning to total strangers. The Christmas spirit is being felt. One of my favorite hymns came across my mind, and I sung it under my breath “Oh little town of Bethlehem". In the tiny town of Bethlehem the world changed for ever. God came to be with us! Greet someone - you don’t have to know them. Say Merry Christmas or just hello. It’s Christmas! Jesus has come into our world and our lives. Amen!

God Is Good God is Great

God is great; God is good. We prayed this as children. It was true then and true now. As we reflect on the adventures, the ups and downs of our life, we are more keenly aware of these awesome truths. Father, we thank You for how You provide for us - to make a way when there seems to be no way. Be with us today, we can’t make it without You, in Jesus' name, amen.

Ministering

Great night of visitation. Over the past few days, I’ve become keenly aware of the challenges that so many are facing. My heart and prayers go out for them. I’ve also become aware (God spoke to me) that I need to do something. I can help with food, toys for the kids, money for expenses (every thing belongs to him-we are just stewards). Let’s keep praying, but look for ways to physically minister. Please bring me one new unwrapped toy so all children will have one for Christmas. Thank you in Jesus' name, amen.

The World Is In a Mess

The world's in a mess...we often think that it’s going to “heck” in a hand basket. Hold the phone...in this week’s Sunday school lesson, I learned that China - communist China where the leaders have tried to stamp out Christianity - is on track to have the world's largest Christian population by 2030!! Oh my, what a mighty God we serve. For we Baptists, it’s Lottie Moon time. Let's give generously to tell others about the Jesus we know. Father, use us, in Jesus' name, amen.

Absolute Joy

On a roll! Another free coffee🎉! We had an awesome day of worship with a baptism and the greening of the church. Christmas is here. We received several gifts yesterday. We serve such a gracious loving church family. Father, we begin our Monday thanking You for the absolute joy (not happiness...it’s dependent on circumstances) the joy of knowing You through Jesus. It's Your Monday; help us spend it for You. Amen.
