God Directs Our Path

Everyone I’ve met early this morning praising God for the rain๐Ÿ™! He’s in charge of the big things. He’s in charge of the little things. He is all powerful. The message this Sunday is about His omnipotence. I got another free cup of coffee. A lady that drives a county bus picked up the tab. I thanked her before she could drive away and invited her to worship. The Father puts people in our path each day. There is a reason. It took me awhile to catch on to what He was doing. Now I anticipate the opportunities that He gives. Someone in heaven might thank us for reaching out to them. Isn't that awesome? Amen.

Celebrate the Joys of Life

Back to the Dr. about heel spur. I think it’s better. God uses everything: the good, the bad and the painful to mold us to His plan and purposes. I have a better sense of what those - whose every waking moment is one of pain - are going through. My prayers for them have intensified. The piano tuner is coming today. I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving when the family gathers after dinner to sing. Let's celebrate the joys of life while we can for they are brief, but there’s a better world awaiting where the joys never end. Amen.

Another Day of Life

Phone updated over night.๐Ÿ˜†Technology is wonderful...except for those of us who have seen a few summers. Often our "check engine light” will come on.๐Ÿ˜‡Had a wonderful day of worship; our church remember us on Pastor Appreciation Sunday. We are blessed to serve folks who love the Lord and love people. That’s what our time here on earth is all about...another day of life. How shall we spend it? Only one real true answer...serving Him by serving others. Help us today Father, in Jesus' name, amen.

Be Still and Know

Busy early a.m. - the suit needed pressing (according to my wife), picked up some goodies for Sunday school, got gas in my old car., get coffee from Flash, get breakfast from Hardee’s. Whew! Then on my way to church to print, fold bulletins, and get coffee, juice, milk ready for Sunday school. God’s not impressed with our busyness. He wants us to stop, be still and know He is God. He’s in charge. He’s had plans and purposes for us. So be still and know that He is our God, and know He's watching over us. Amen. See you in worship!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

God Shapes and Molds Us

There was a board meeting of guys my age at Hardee’s this a.m. I don’t get to go often, but it was a joy. They’ve seen a lot, experienced the joys and sorrows of life, been active in their churches, and realized afresh and anew that nothing happens outside of God’s knowledge - that He uses everything in His eternal plan and purpose. I am experiencing some pain in my heel. It's made me more aware of the intense pain that others suffer (mine is nothing). It's helped me to intensify my praying for them. Father, thank You for using all to shape and mold us for You, amen.

Thankful for His Blessings

Awake..not my conscience... applied the blood of Jesus. He remembers our sins against us no more. Have a busy day with preaching at Blackshear Villa, and visiting the other homes. Thankful for His blessings. The visitation team had a great night. On a side note, our son's choir is singing Saturday at the Jessye Norman funeral (maybe broadcast on TV).Thank You, Father, for another day of life, help us spend it for You, amen.

God Uses the Routine & Ordinary

Each morning routine: go to Flash, get coffee, get gas for my old car and then to Hardee’s to get breakfast for my wife and daughter. God uses the routine, the ordinary. He keeps putting people in my path. A young lady at Flash said I’d like to come to your church! Guess what I said?๐Ÿ˜‡ Then at Hardee’s I ran into another young person. Awesome! I have visitation tonight with several young families to see. Pray that God will open doors and hearts. We must be about the Father’s business. Time is running out. Look for someone you can tell that Jesus loves them. Thank You, Father, for the opportunities You give us. Help us to seize them. Amen.

Spend the Day on God

God is leading me to reach out to a young man. He’s a good person, friendly, but I believe needs a relationship with the Father. Please pray that I will be able to reach him for Christ. We celebrate our daughter and son-in-law’s anniversary today - 15 years! Am I getting old?๐Ÿ˜‡ Father, thank You for another day of life. Help us spend it for you. Amen.

God Knows

Message this Sunday will be “His eye is on the sparrow” (may change the title). The scripture however comes from Psalm 145. It’s about God’s omniscience. He knows; He knows all that has happened, all that is happening, all that will happen, and all that could have happened. He knows all - even our prayers before we pray them and the number of hairs on your head. He knows all about us. He created us, yet He loves, provides for us. I don’t understand His omniscience. It’s way over my pay grade. I’ve trusted Him with my eternity. Have you? Today would be the right time. He knows, amen.

Jesus Loves Us

Reading a book on theology, it’s much over my pay grade. But the most important thing I’ve got nailed, I learned it - not from book on theology but from my mother...that Jesus loves us. He demonstrated it on the cross. The book has lots of big words and theories, but mama had it right. Jesus loves us. This I know for the Bible tells me so. That will jump start your Monday. Amen.

God Is Here, There, Everywhere

Message today is ”here, there, everywhere”. We serve and worship a God who has no boundaries. He is present, sees, and knows all that we do. He is omnipresent! We can ignore God, but we cannot avoid Him. Sooner or later (prayerfully sooner) - we will come face to face with Him. Can't feel, see or experience Him? One nano-second after our physical death, we will see Him. This is the moment. Don't waste it - in Jesus’ name, amen.

Meeting Angels

Still getting comments on what I believe to be encounters with Angels - when we were stranded with a flat tire at night and the one at Hardee’s.There are unnumbered hosts of angels. Wherever God’s people are, those who have a relationship with Him through His Son (John 14:6) there are His angels. Thinking back over the years, I can remember times when His angels protected and made a way for us.
My message “all about angels” is on our web site - lakeblackshearbaptistchurch.com. Have a blessed day with angels watching over us, amen.

Make the Most of Life

Up early with Elizabeth. I can’t sleep. Had a great night of visitation last night. I will worship at Blackshear Villa this a.m. Our daughter and son-in-law’s anniversary is next Tuesday. Time slips by so quickly. We must make the most of it. Father, thank You for another day of life. Help us spend it for You. Put someone in our path to share about You. What will we do with this day that You have given us? It’s our choice. Help us make it a good one - in Jesus’ name, amen.

Angels are Watching Over Us

Turning into Hardee’s at 6:50 am to get breakfast for my wife and daughter, I saw a lady pushing a wheel chair loaded with all her belongings. I watched from inside as she maneuvered it to a parking spot. God spoke to my heart. As I went out, she walked up. I can’t explained it, but I gave her a twenty. She smiled and said, “thank you”. She asked, “are you a preacher?” and I replied, “Yes ma’am”. She said, “I travel from city to city and preach on street corners”. I said, “bless you”. I went to my car as she entered Hardee’s. As I started to pull away, I looked in (had clear vision of the inside), and she was no where to be seen. She had disappeared!! I believe that I encountered an angel! Be alert we may entertained angels unawares. It has made my day. Angels are watching over us, amen.

The Hourglass Is Running

Another free cup of coffee! ๐ŸŽ‰ Talk about a blessed country - boy๐Ÿ˜‡I’m in it๐Ÿ™!  Father, I awoke with the realization that the sands in the hour glass of my life are going through it at “warp” speed. Help me to “preach, teach and reach”. Father, thank you for the new program that brings middle school students into off-campus bible study. I went to the first group’s graduation last night. I was blessed and impressed. Father, today put someone in our path to share about Jesus with. See you at bible study tonight. Topic is Revelation 18. Amen!
