Reminiscing about days gone by (as you grow older, you do that a lot😄). I thought about the many blessings God had given me. I regretted that I had wasted some of them.😥 That’s why we need a Saviour. Despite my faults, failings, my deliberate sins (we don’t sin by accident), He still loves me and remembers my sins no more (Heb. 8:12). So this morning, I want to shout Hallelujah!! How about you, amen?

Down hearted? Sad? Chin on your shoe tops this morning? I confess that I am. Let’s read Paul’s comforting word in 1st Thessalonians 4. The Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout…the voice of the archangel…the trumpet blast..the dead in Christ shall rise…oh in the twinkling of an eye…and we shall be caught away!! Father, our hope is in You, in Jesus’ name, amen. Amen!

The church sign read: “We face a formidable but defeated foe”. All pain, suffering, unrest and much more is caused by our arch enemy. He is not the cartoon character, in long red underwear with a pitchfork. No, he is a horrific thing; he is evil itself. But the church sign is right, he was defeated by Jesus on the cross. His fate in Rev. 20:10 states that he, along with the beast and the false prophet, shall be cast into hell forever. Today, let’s put on the armor of the Holy Spirit. Father, please protect Your children, in Jesus’ name, amen.

There’s been no shortage of pain and heartache in the last two days. We had a church member’s mother pass away, our Children Director’s  cousin’s husband died (her mother and father had died earlier in the year), a good friend is asking for prayer for his wife (her son killed in an auto accident on the way home from his dad’s funeral), and I was on the phone with a young lady asking for help (her husband died last year and now she and her dad have 30 days to get out of their home). Oh Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, we cry out to You. Help us, deliver us, please! John 14 states, “Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me”. Amen!

Raised on the farm, (back in the mule and plow days) but my heart is with our producers now (our son-in-law is one) as they struggle to gather their crops. Oh, we need them for our food and fiber. They are the “backbone” of our community. Please ask the Father to help and bless them in this critical time. Oh, we need them. Amen.

I was in radio and TV for 58 years, and now all I watch is Bro. Ricky and Andy Griffith. My day begins with an hour long prayer (I’m slow😕) then reading from the Old and New testaments, a couple other books, make some calls to encourage people, spend some time on my computer, working on sermons (I know, I need to work a little harder😕), and oh, my nap time!! Father, thank You for this day of life, help us use it wisely for You, that we could reach someone for You, amen.

Our Lake Blackshear Baptist Church services will be virtual online only for the next two Sundays. Blame it on me and an over abundance of caution.🙏 Father, help us to worship, serve You. The nurse came out of the ER as white as a sheet. The man who just died - they were able to bring him back twice. Each time he was screaming, “Help me, I’m in hell!” (This is a true story, shared some time ago by nurse friend.) One second in hell is too long, much less an eternity.✝️ Do you believe in heaven and in hell?  I do!🙏 Let’s tell someone about Jesus today.🙏 Let’s do it!! Amen.

Graveside service yesterday, and if a funeral can be good then it was. Tears? Yes, but laughter as we heard funny memories of a life well lived. There was joy because he was whole again, reunited with loved ones, in the presence of his Lord with the sure hope they would see him again.🙏 Will my funeral be good? Will yours? They can be. Father, thank You for saving us, for giving us hope for eternity, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Our Sunday school lesson is all about love.❤️ God demonstrated His love for us; He gave His only Son on the cross for our sins. Now, the hard part is that we are to show that love to others. Yes, even to those who have “done us wrong”. Lord Jesus, thank You for loving us enough to die for us. Help us with the hard part to love the unloveable, we can’t do it without You, amen.

With a family whose husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend has gone to Heaven✝️. I may say this at his memorial service that when death comes to a Christ follower, there is hurt because he’s removed from our physical presence. There’s help from our church family and friends rushing to their side with food, hugs, prayers, and there’s hope. We don’t sorrow as Paul says in first Thessalonians 4 as those who have no hope. Oh soon, in the “twinkling of an eye”, Jesus will come, and we’ll be reunited. Amen; thank You Father.

Usually do my post early in the morning,✝️but tonight a dear friend, a faithful member of the church passed away. We were going by tomorrow; his wife and I talked every day.🙏 I can’t go to sleep. I’ve received several messages that other friends are struggling.😕 These are the times that haunt us and try our souls.✝️ Father, Lord Jesus, please come back and raise all the righteous dead in Christ and rapture us home with You, amen.
