God Is Absolutely Sovereign

Remember singing this from your childhood? “Rain, rain, go away, come some other day”!  Hear the weather folks say that “Mother Nature” is in charge. That’s the name of a non-existent, pagan deity. The Father, the Creator is absolutely sovereign, and the best thing is that He loves us. In John 3:16, He loved us so much that He gave His only Son for us. Oh, that will make this rainy Thursday so good, amen.

Ministry Ain’t Just Preaching

The Chairman of our Deacons driving someone to a doctor’s appointment in Atlanta today and then Friday, he’s taking another to a doctor’s appointment in Albany. Ministry “ain’t” just preaching. I have a small part in a funeral for a good friend, then prayer meeting and church business meeting today. I’m attending a funeral Thursday for the sister of a church member, knocking on doors late that evening and worship Friday at Blackshear Villas. Worship “ain’t” just preaching. Father, help all who need You so much today, amen.

Sounds Like Heaven

Two good friends have passed recently. When others would speak of them, they would say, “Well, they’re in a better place!” I read about it in Revelation 21. John said, “there will no more death, sorrow, no more pain, God is with them and wipes away every tear!” A better place? Sounds like Heaven to me! Amen?

Have a Plateful?

I have a plateful on this Monday. Thought about Paul, everyday he had a “plateful”. I like what he said in Philippians 3, “One thing I do, forgetting what’s behind, I press toward the goal”. Father, help all who have a “plateful”. Help us press toward the goal, despite all that’s going on, that we can receive the “prize” for which You have called us. Amen.

What Will They Say About Me?

Been to several funerals in the past few weeks, all of them were good folks who had served the Lord, their families, the community.πŸ˜‡ On my way home, I thought what will they say about me? I’ve been more of a watcher than a “doer”. All I could think of that I’m “an old sinner saved by grace!” Thank You, Lord, amen!

God Holds Our Hand
On my way to Ideal, my home town. I go every 2nd Saturday, for the Ideal Market, but I really go to see family and old friends and renew old memories. The message tomorrow is, "Our windshield is larger than our rear view mirror”. I cherish “most” of the old memories. But those times away from God, I want to put them away by the Blood of Jesus and press forward to the mark of our high calling in Christ. Father, the song says “I can’t even walk without You holding my hand”. Amen, amen! (remember the day.)

When the World Stopped Turning

“Where were you that September morning, when the world stopped turning?” I’ll never forget.πŸ™ And yesterday evening - the “world stopped turning for a family, their 7 year old son was killed in a 4-wheeler accident.πŸ™ Oh Father, put Your arms  around them; bring them close to You. Our hearts are breaking for them. The world stopped turning on that September day, please help them, in Jesus’ name, amen.

God’s Saving Grace

Stood in line (a long line) last night to speak to the family of a dear friend, I looked at him in the casket for a long time and thought of all we had shared over the years. I whispered, “save a place for me”.πŸ™ Father, we lift up all that mourn, reassure them. Thank You for Your saving grace, amen.

Praying for the Family Unit

My sister and brother-in-law (he’s my brother) stopped by for a visit yesterday. They were on their way home from a funeral. We had an awesome hour. Ever heard four people trying to talk at once?πŸ˜… My mama was right “blood is thicker than water”.❀️ Father, You created the family unit, we lift them up to You. There are many that are in trouble, struggling, oh Father, please heal them. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.

Are You Prepared?

Lost a good friend yesterday.πŸ˜• No wait, I know exactly where he is. He’s in the very presence of God. He was escorted there by Jesus, who will never leave or forsake us, who is building us a mansion. When we are young, death often catches us by surprise. We, who are older, know; we know about it. My friend made preparation long ago for this time, so have I. I’ll see him again. Have you made that preparation? You can, today, amen?

We’ll Work Till Jesus Comes

Labor Day…I know about labor. I plowed a mule, picked cotton, etc.πŸ˜‡ Paul in Colossians 3:7 tells us “Whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus”. The old song came to mind: “We’ll work till Jesus comes, and then we’ll all be gathered home”. For all who have to “go in” today, I understand; I’ve been there. May the Lord bless your labor as you provide for your family, amen. (Oh by the way, need a job? I heard they’re hiring.πŸ˜‡) Amen?

The Grave Robber

Message today is “The Grave Robber”. Every time Jesus went to a funeral, He changed everything. This is an awesome message for us. I have a funeral today for an awesome Christian lady. I just received a message from some longtime friends that several of their family have COVID. Oh Father, help us today, too much, too quickly for me too handle. Come and change everything, amen.

There Is a Better World to Come

Read an awesome thought, “Our eternity can be well secured even while life on earth remains shaky at best”. In Revelation 21:4, “And God shall wipe every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death✝️”. Father, in this “shaky” world we live in now, we thank You that there is a better one to come. Thank You for saving us, amen and amen.

Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled

I have two funerals this weekend for ✝️two Christian ladies with different backgrounds and circumstances. One of the things I’ll share with the families is that Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions”(John 14). God never sees His children die; He simply sees them coming home to heaven.πŸ™ So, “Let not your hearts be troubled”. Amen.

The Light and Salt of the World

I’ve had all the shots, wear my mask, sanitize ( I have washed my hands so much, that the “crib notes” from an 8th grade math test showed up), praying for everything that’s got a name, but ultimately it’s all in the Father’s hands. But I remember that in Matthew 5, He charges us with being the light and the salt of the world. Father, help us to be, despite circumstances, the salt and the light that others might know You, amen. πŸ’‘ πŸ§‚ 🌎
